It has been over a month since I have written anything in my blog. Time does go by so swiftly. We are almost through March, which has got to be the worst month, especially in today's economic climate. The news has been talking about restaurants closing temporarily, and for good due to the sluggish economy. We at Restaurant 15 Main are trying to hang in there and hoping for the best. We have been slow, slower than other March's but still doing our thing and making customers happy. Head up, shoulders back and keep plugging along that is what we do.
Now for the Happy stuff. Pete, Gabby & I had a wonderful vacation, a week away does a body and psyche good. Weather was beautiful, saw friends we hadn't seen in years, and visited Pete's Dad, whom we don't get to see much. It was good for me to see Pete get to relax after 4 years of nose to the grindstone. It went by too fast, as vacations often do, but can't be on vacation forever. It was 82 when we left Florida and 42 when we arrived in Allentown, I told Peter not to wear shorts home.....
This Friday we celebrate our daughter's 13th Birthday, she will officially be a teenager. Hopefully we can survive the next few year and not become a victim of a teenager. She is a great kid, does great in school and knows boundaries. Sometimes you have to remember that "success" is made up of many facets....seeing your daughter grow gracefully into her teenage years would be one of those successes. Also, having a family that you love and are proud of would be another. So Happy Birthday to Gabby (not my little girl anymore) my beautiful young lady.
I cannot wait for spring to come, like most people in our area. Not only for business, but for warmer sunnier days and the feeling of an awakening from a long cold sleep. We are planning a garden this year, because we now have an area to plant. Peter has been working on building a smoker at home, he was digging and planning Tuesday, which turned out to be a warm sunny day. He is always thinking about food, how to make it better, and what good food really is all about. He cannot wait to grill, smoke and have all of the wonder foods that spring and summer have to offer.
I cannot forget to say Happy Birthday to our very dear friend, ED ( same day as Gabby) and also to Karen. It seems that Friday night is Brithday Celebration night at Restaurant 15 Main. Thanks to all for choosing us. For those of you that we have not seen in a while, time to come out of hibernation, we miss you. Until next time, Happy Spring...
